The best Roborock robot vacuum cleaners in 2021

If you are thinking of buying a robot vacuum cleaner, you have to take a look at the Roborock catalog, because it is one of the best producers on the market. These are your reference models.

With the good performance of its appliances and feedback from users, Roborock has become one of the most popular brands in the robot vacuum cleaner market. A few months ago it was officially established in our country, so it’s a good time to take a look at the best Roborock robot vacuum cleaners in 2021.

At first, many people thought that Roborock was a Xiaomi brand, but as Vice President Simon Wan and CTO Zhen Wu explained to us when we interviewed them at IFA, Roborock is an independent startup, and Xiaomi is only a shareholder with 12 % of the shares. Xiaomi invests in many companies with potential, and Roborock is one of them.

Roborock robot vacuum cleaners are among the best on the market and can compete with the best Roomba and the like. Its entire catalog is made up of mid-range and high-end devices, so you won’t find models for less than 200 euros. In return, they are equipped with all the innovations on the market.

Roborock has several ranges of robot vacuum cleaners:  Xiaowa, S4, S5 S6, and S7. Within them, there are some variants. For example, S6, S6 Pure, and S6 MaxV, its the most advanced model.

They all have some common characteristics. They sweep and mop, not just vacuum. They plan an independent route (that is, they do not move randomly), and it can be controlled by mobile or voice.

In addition, they are all capable of working autonomously, since they return to the charging station automatically. So they can clean the house on their own when you are away.

These are the most notable models.

    Roborock S7

Roborock S7  is the latest model in the Roborock catalog. It is a robot vacuum cleaner that vacuums, sweeps, and scrubs, providing a complete cleaning of a floor of up to 300 square meters, with a single recharge. And if it runs out of battery in the middle of a cleaning session there is no problem, since it will return alone to the charging station, recharge the battery and continue where it left off.  You can find out all the details in our review of the Roborock S7.

Like other models, it has a house mapper, so performs a low-level cleaning, and you can assign restricted areas from the app. Thanks to the numerous sensors that take care of the anti-fall, anti-collision, and resistance to clogging functions, it cleans the whole house avoiding obstacles, without leaving any corner unclean. To get his bearings, he uses inertial navigation gyros, a dual compass, and motion-tracking sensors.
It has an absorption power of 2,500 pascals, and you can also activate a scrubbing mode (moistened mop), to remove embedded dirt on floors.
All with a single move. In addition, you may be asked to carry out a more pronounced local cleaning in certain areas of the house, such as carpets.
It has a 0.47-liter waste tank.

S7

Roborock’s most advanced robot vacuum cleaner vacuums and scrubs deeply thanks to its sonic vibration system.  It has a suction power of 2,500 Pa and an autonomy of 180 minutes. It stands out for its advanced navigation system based on a LiDAR sensor and multilevel maps.

The battery reaches 5,200 mAh with a range of just over three hours.

From the mobile app, it is possible to start, stop, schedule, and customize cleaning, activate automatic loading, vacuum an area, check the status of accessories and control the direction of movement.

The Roborock S7 costs just 549 euros.

Roborock s4

If your house doesn’t get too dirty, and you don’t need to scrub often or, on the contrary, it gets so dirty that you have to scrub by hand, the Roborock S4 robot vacuum cleaner has the same features as its older versions S5 Max, and even the S6, but without the scrubbing functions, at a cheaper price.

It is a cleaning robot designed to sweep and vacuum, and it does it just like the best, thanks to its 2000 pascal suction power capable of lifting an AA battery from the ground.

With its autonomy of more than 1.5 hours, it is enough to thoroughly clean a house of up to 200 square meters, on a single charge. When the 5,200 mAh battery runs out, it automatically returns to its charging station, so you don’t have to worry about a thing.

Of course, it costs him to climb the carpets a little more than the S5 Max. Keep this in mind if you have high rugs.

It uses the latest laser sensor technology to map the entire house with 98% accuracy. This ensures that no corner will be left uncleaned. From the mobile app, you can put virtual barriers so that it does not clean certain rooms or even certain areas of a room.

Roborock s4

If you are just looking for a robot vacuum that sweeps and vacuums, the S4 has the same features as the S5 but without the scrubbing function, at a more affordable price. It is capable of mapping the house to clean only the areas you request, and it recharges automatically.

Its movement algorithm makes it almost impossible for it to get caught between objects or in a hole. And thanks to its transparent tank you can see when it is full, to empty it.

The Roborock S4 is priced at 369 euros. It is the only store where it is for sale.

Roborock S5 Max

If you are looking for a good cleaning robot specialized in scrubbing, the Roborock S5 Max is an option to consider, because it is designed precisely for that.

Its scrubbing mode is one of the most advanced out there. From the app, you can select the amount of water you want to use depending on the type of floor, and you can define areas that you want to vacuum but not scrub, for example, carpets.

With its 290 ml tank, it is capable of scrubbing a 200 square meter house in one go, and a 65-meter floor, up to three times. It is also one of the few robots that do not scrub using the weight of the water tank on the mop, because with this method when the tank empties, the pressure drops. It has its own pressure spring that exerts a force of 300 grams regardless of the amount of water in the tank.

This model has a suction power of 2000 Pa and, thanks to its specialized fan that rotates at 1,500 rpm, it is able to direct the airflow towards the interior and prevent the dust from being dispersed throughout the house.

The Roborock S5 Max features a 360-degree laser mapping system that draws a floor plan of your home with 98% accuracy. Once done, it recognizes the different rooms so that you can schedule cleaning according to your needs.

Thanks to its numerous sensors (accelerometer, an odometer, infrared sensors, and compass), it avoids obstacles, never falls downstairs, and does not get stuck.

S5 Max

Roborock S5 Max is a robot vacuum cleaner and scrubber that has an advanced navigation system that allows more thorough and efficient cleaning of floors and carpets in your home.

Roborock S6

The S5 Max is a great robot vacuum cleaner, but it has been improved in some respects by the S6 range, of course.

Although both models are very similar in power and functions, the S6 makes a little less noise and has a denser brush that traps dust even more. They have also improved the adaptive algorithms that decide the robot’s path, based on the maps it creates with its laser sensors and a quad-core processor. It also has some more sensors, for example, an odometer to measure distances. However, the S5 Max has a larger water tank, so it can scrub more surfaces in one go.

It uses LIDAR laser sensors, the most accurate there is, to map the whole house and not leave any corner. The high-precision laser spins at 300 rpm, mapping the house with 98% accuracy. You can see the area that has been cleaned to check if something is left, or program it through the mobile app, via WiFi, choosing the rooms or areas that you do not want to clean.

It has no less than 14 different sensors, including an accelerometer, the aforementioned odometer, infrared distance sensors, compass, anti-fall, and others. It is even capable of climbing obstacles of up to 2 centimeters.

Like the S5 Max, it has a suction power of 2,000 Pascals, with a 5,200 mAh battery and a range of about 2.5 hours. But you don’t have to worry because it recharges itself, so it can clean the whole house when you’re out and about.

Roborock S6 MaxV

It is the first to have, in addition to the LIDAR laser sensor, a double stereoscopic camera that mimics human vision. This dual camera allows you to calculate the depth, distance, and size of objects, so you can navigate them more effectively.

You can also create 3D maps and the desired multilevel maps, separating the floors of a house. It was a highly requested feature by users.

The Roborock S6 MaxV is the first to use the Qualcomm APQ8953 processor, 50% more powerful than the S6. It releases, in addition to the usual CPU, a GPU or graphics chip that it uses to implement artificial intelligence algorithms.

Thanks to AI and deep learning, it is able not only to see objects but to distinguish what they are. For example, it is able to distinguish a carpet from a scale that is exactly the same height, so it will not try to get on the scale to clean it, like other robots that do not differentiate objects do.

It can even send unknown objects it finds during the cleaning phase to your mobile. He can let you know, for example, if the dog has done his business inside the house, and mark exactly where they are. Or if the children haven’t picked up their toys before doing their homework.

And you don’t have to worry about privacy. Any image captured by the cameras is discarded once processed. Nothing is duplicated, nothing is stored, and nothing is sent to the cloud.

Along with these unique functions, the new Roborock S6 MaxV robot vacuum cleaner offers the best features in the company’s entire catalog. Its suction power is 25% higher, reaching 2,500 pascals. The water tank for scrubbing doubles its capacity, up to 290 ml. And it uses an intelligent scrubbing system that allows you to define the amount of water used in each room.

Despite the fact that it has the same 5,200 mAh battery, due to the optimization of the hardware the autonomy increases up to 180 minutes. And if it runs out in the middle of the job, it is able to calculate the charge it needs to finish it, and automatically recharge only that amount, so as not to waste time.

It can clean an area of 240 square meters on a single charge. Quite a record.
